Hunter Dickinson, Kansas Jayhawks center, recently gave an interview with RG where he discussed his life with his university team. The Kansas Jayhawks finished their regular season sixth in the Big 12 with an 11-9 conference score and 20-11 overall. Since joining the team in 2023, Dickinson has been a crucial part of the team’s offense and is mainly responsible for Kansas’ amazing performance this season.
Dickinson played for the Michigan Wolverines from 2020 to 2023 and then transferred to Kansas where he has been playing for the team ever since. Before that, the 24 year old center played high school basketball for DeMatha Catholic in Maryland. In his basketball career, Dickinson has managed to receive several accolades, including the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year award last year, and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2021.
“It’s not been all sunshine and rainbows for me here at Kansas. Obviously, we have our ups and our downs. The main thing for me is just take the bad and the good all of it together. You’re going to battle through some adversity in life. I don’t think I would’ve traded my experiences here at Kansas for anything. The things I learned here, the things I’ve experienced here have really been life lessons and something that I think will propel me into whatever I do after Kansas.” Hunter Dickinson told RG about his experiences with the Kansas Jayhawks.
Apart from commending the university’s basketball program, Hunter Dickinson also lauded praises on his coach, Bill Self. According to Dickinson, Self has not only taught him plenty about basketball, but also about life itself. Dickinson aims to carry these lessons with him throughout his life according to his interview.
