The Indiana Fever suffered their first loss after going on a winning streak, as they got handed an 88-87 road defeat by the Chicago Sky on Sunday. Despite the loss, Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark put together a solid performance that landed him in an exclusive WNBA territory.
Per StatMamba:
Caitlin Clark is the first rookie since 2009 to have:
- Double-double with PTS & REB
- Double-double with PTS & AST
She really does it all ⭐️
Caitlin Clark put up strong numbers in Indiana Fever loss to the Sky
Clark finished the Sky game with 17 points on 5/11 shooting from the floor to go with 13 assists and six rebounds. She hit five of her nine attempts from behind the arc and also came away with four steals in 40 minutes. The former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar’s incredible effort against Chicago was not enough to tow the Fever to a victory, but it should help add to the ever-growing confidence of Clark, who was selected first overall by Indiana at the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Angel Reese led the Sky in the win over the Fever with a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds. The Fever were paced by Kelsey Mitchell, who came up with 24 points on 8/18 shooting from the field.
Before Sunday’s game against Chicago, Clark and the Fever had a four-game undefeated run. That stretch included Indiana’s 88-81 home win over the Washington Mystics in which Clark collected 18 points and 12 rebounds while also adding six assists and four steals.
Clark and the Fever, who dropped out of the playoff picture with a 7-11 record after the loss to the Sky, will next face the Seattle Storm on the road this coming Thursday.
