Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is not part of the United States women’s basketball team that is now competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her not being selected for Team USA has always been a hot topic among basketball fans.

However, the Americans don’t seem to regret not having Clark on the team, as they just muscled out a dominant victory over Japan on Monday to the tune of a 102-76 score.

One fan in the crowd, though, thought Team USA would need Clark to dispose of Japan.

Team USA handily beat the Japanese on the strength of their bigs. A’ja Wilson dropped a game-high 24 points to go with 13 rebounds while Breanna Stewart erupted for 22 points. Meanwhile, Brittney Griner came off the bench and recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.

The walk-in-the-park victory of Team USA over Japan is also exactly why many people were left wondering why USA Basketball did not just give a spot for Clark, as everyone knows that the United States will blow away the competition out of the water.

Fans react to Clark sign in USA vs. Japan

“After watching that All-Star game it is clear that the Clark and Reese Combo will dominate the Olympics for years to come. They can wait.”
