For the first time since 2020, the Indiana Pacers managed to play beyond the regular season. They even reached the 2024 Eastern Conference finals against all odds — the first time they got that deep in the postseason since 2013 when Paul George, George Hill, and David West were leading the team on the court.
Although they got swept by the Boston Celtics in the conference finals, the Pacers have reason to believe that the future will be bright for them. They just proved they are capable of seriously contending for at least an East title, and a huge addition in the summer could be the one that gets them over the hump.
Indiana Pacers GM drops hint on offseason plan

On Tuesday, Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan said that Indiana would be fine keeping the entire band together but he also hinted about being open to using the team’s young assets to pursue quality weapons.
Via Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports:
Pacers GM Chad Buchanan said today they’re comfortable running it back with their roster, but if the right opportunity presents itself on the trade market they will get aggressive.
Indiana’s young core of talent could potentially get them into most conversations for star-level players this offseason, if they decided to go in that direction.

The Indiana Pacers perhaps will have to make sure first that Pascal Siakam keeps his feet off the waters of NBA free agency. They have already expressed their desire to retain Siakam, who is a pending unrestricted free agent.
Some of the younger players the Pacers could potentially use as part of a trade are the likes of Bennedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin, Aaron Nesmith, and Ben Sheppard.
