Tyrese Haliburton is coming off the best season so far in his NBA career after leading the Indiana Pacers to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance since 2014.
The 24-year-old also earned his second consecutive All-Star nod while being named to the All-NBA Third Team. Haliburton was also the league’s assists leader, highlighting his growth from a playmaking and leadership standpoint.
So, as he looks forward to the 2024-25 campaign, the former Iowa State standout said he plans to build off last season since he’s craving for more.
“I’m gonna be around for a long time,” Haliburton said in an interview with GQ’s Andrew Greif. “And I have full faith in that. and I gotta prove that, of course, but I guess my biggest thing is, like: this is not a one-time thing, by any means.”
“I’m greedy, I want to be great. So, I mean, what is there to be satisfied about?” he added.
Haliburton, who averaged 20.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 10.9 assists, and 1.2 steals in 69 regular season games in 2023-24, is currently vying for his first Olympic gold with Team USA in the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Tyrese Haliburton calls out the Indiana Pacers’ skeptics
Tyrese Haliburton doesn’t like it when the Indiana Pacers are not mentioned as one of the top teams ahead of 2024-25, especially after coming off a deep playoff run.
“All I keep seeing is, ‘Who’s going to win the East? Boston, Milwaukee, New York, or Philly?’ It’s like, what are we doing (not being included)? But again, we’re Indiana, people didn’t even know, people didn’t even watch us play until the playoffs,” Haliburton lamented.
“But again, that respect comes with winning. So if we want to gain that respect, we just got to keep having success as a team. And it’s coming,” he added.
