After leading the Indiana Pacers on an impressive run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, Tyrese Haliburton wants more. He has not been shy about wanting to make an even bigger run this season.
Of course, he isn’t going to be satisfied until he leads the Pacers to their first ever NBA Finals championship.
Ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season, Haliburton has spoken out about his mindset. It’s very clear that the only thing on his mind is winning and winning big. That is a mindset that the entire Indiana squad has adopted.
Indiana Pacers Star Tyrese Haliburton Reveals 2024-25 Mindset
Haliburton recently did an interview with The Athletic. In that interview, he opened up about his goals and mindset entering the upcoming campaign.
“We had a great year,” Haliburton said. But we want more, and I think we need to be greedy. If you really want to win, you really want to do something special, you gotta be greedy.”
Not only is Haliburton looking for success on the court, he is also finding it off the court. He has reportedly agreed to a deal with Puma to become the face of the shoe company. Over the last couple of years, he has become one of the most popular players in the NBA.
In order to take the next step and make an NBA Finals run, the Indiana Pacers need to improve in a few different areas. On the defensive end of the court, they have to be much better than they were last year.
Closing out games is another area that cost the Pacers last season. Rick Carlisle and company blew a couple of games in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. Had they held onto those wins, there is a chance that their season may have continued into the Finals.
While there are some major needs for improvement, Indiana has to feel good about the roster they have put together.
Alongside Haliburton, the Indiana Pacers were able to retain Pascal Siakam in free agency. They also signed Andrew Nembhard to a contract extension. Myles Turner, Bennedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin, T.J. McConnell, Aaron Nesmith, and the rest of the roster are stacked with talent as well.
No one will call Indiana a championship “favorite” heading into the season, but they’re certainly a contender.
