The Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis left game 4 of the Miami Heat series with a towel over his head and signs of frustration. He strained his right calf during a hand-off play with Jaylen Brown, resulting in a non-contact injury.

An MRI the following day showed that Kristaps suffered a soleus strain. It is the same exact injury that Giannis Antetokoumnpo suffered against the Boston Celtics before the end of the regular season. That injury kept the Greek Freak out of the playoffs, and his Bucks team was eliminated in the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers.

The Celtics center told reporters at Saturday’s practice, “It’s something. It’s not nothing, you know?” Kristaps Porzingis also said, “It will take a bit of time for sure. But I’m doing everything I can to speed it up because I want to get back out there as soon as possible. But, I’m understanding that the worst thing would be probably, is to reaggravate that injury. ”

Boston did finish game 5 with Porzingis on the sideline, winning the series against the Miami Heat in five games.

The young Celtics head coach spoke to CLNS Media Monday about the injured center. Joe Mazulla stated, “He seemed to be walking a bit better. The thing about KP is, he puts the time in. So a guy like him, every single day, he knows exactly what he has to do and he always puts the work in to be ready whether he’s playing or whether he’s coming back from injury.”

The Cavaliers’ series with the Magic going seven games only created more time for Kristaps Porzinigs to bounce back from his injury. However, he will be missed on the low block. More than likely, Al Horford will be the starting center for the Celtics & Cavaliers series against the former blocks champion, Jarrett Allen.

However, Jarrett Allen is listed as questionable for game 1. He suffered a rib injury in game 4 while trying to outbox Franz Wagner. Allen missed the final three games of the series due to the injury.

It’s unlikely that Porzingis will return for this series. Yet, if Boston makes it to the Eastern Conference Finals, Porzingis could return to the court by then.
