Things are not going so well for Denver Nuggets point guard Russell Westbrook so far in the 2024-25 NBA season.
However, Los Angeles Lakers star James Harden thinks that at the end of the day and when it is all said and done with regard to his and Westbrook’s career, they will both be finding their name in Springfield.
Via Law Murray of The Athletic:
“We’re both inner-city L.A. kids,” Harden said of Westbrook after Saturday’s game. “When it’s all said and done, we’ll be in the Hall of Fame. That’s a story right there. I’m happy he’s happy and he’s playing well. He’s doing his thing here in Denver. So it’s always happiness when we see each other.”
Russell Westbrook’s shooting struggles doesn’t diminish James Harden’s view of his former teammate
Westbrook has scored just eight points on 18 attempts from the field through his first two games with the Nuggets. That includes his 0-for-8 shooting performance off the bench in a 109-104 home loss to Harden and the Clippers last Saturday. Westbrook hasn’t been known as a knockdown shooter but even for someone with that kind of reputation, his shooting splits to start the season are painful to look at.
Still, Harden clearly has his former teammate’s back. The two go way back, having played together for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and most recently, with the Clippers.
As for Harden, he and the Clippers are starting to find their rhythm. After losing their season opener to the Phoenix Suns, the Clippers have stitched together two wins in a row with wins over the Nuggets and the Golden State Warriors on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
