After winning the 2024 NBA championship, Jaylen Brown is still in the headlines, as the Boston Celtics swingman is considered one of the biggest Team USA snubs. Not commenting on his exclusion with the American national team bound for the Paris Olympics, his recent post about President Joe Biden not seeking re-election in November is deemed as cryptic with his current situation.
President Joe Biden just recently announced that he won’t be seeking another presidential term as the Democratic Party is still in search of a replacement that will battle former President Donald Trump. Reacting to this news, the three-time NBA All-Star gave his point of view on social media comparing sports and politics.
“Anyone who voices that sports and politics aren’t synonymous is lying to you and themselves. It starts in the grassroots with our youth, for example,” posts Brown.

This was not the first time that Brown was perceived to be salty with his Team USA exclusion. When the national team announced that Derrick White was Kawhi Leonard’s replacement, he also gave a cryptic post with three monocle emojis.

Brown had an extra trophy to take home after the 2024 NBA Finals as he was named the Bill Russell Finals MVP awardee besting teammate Jayson Tatum. He averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.6 steals as the Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games.

Grant Hill explains picking Derrick White over Jaylen Brown
The exclusion of Jaylen Brown on Team USA has sent quite a buzz in the basketball community. USA Basketball’s managing director, Grant Hill, expressed that this decision to not include the former California Golden Bear was a collective decision and serves as in the best interest of the national team.
“You have to build a team, and one of the hardest things is leaving people off the roster that I’m a fan of, that I look forward to watching throughout the season, throughout the playoffs,” Hill explained. “Guys who’ve been Finals MVP, guys who have been a part of the program, guys who’ve won gold medals, guys who I respect, admire and enjoy watching. But the responsibility that I have is to put together a team, and a team that complements each other.”
Team USA is set to officially start their Olympic run when they face Nikola Jokic and the Serbian national team on July 28. They are also bracketed with South Sudan and Puerto Rico which they will face on August 1 and 3 respectively.
