Jerami Grant may have blown his chances of getting a deal with the Lakers, as he gave a lackluster performance against the Los Angeles team in their recent matchup.
During the game, Grant only scored three points, despite playing for 32 minutes. He shot 1-of-12 from the field, and 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. Overall, the Lakers dominated the Blazers with a final score of 107-98.
Sports analyst Jovan Buha expressed disappointment over Grant’s performance. Citing rumors of a potential Lakers trade, Buha called Grant’s game “the worst audition.”
“I would say, this is arguably the worst audition that Jerami Grant or any potential Laker target could have,” Buha said.
Buhas then went on to compare Jerami Grant to Lakers forward Rui Hachimura. Recently, Hachimura’s name has been floating around the rumor mill as he is often seen as a potential trade asset for the Lakers should,l the team wish to acquire a new name that would better fit their roster.
“After tonight, maybe just a little bit of recency bias, Rui (Hachimura) is much better than Jerami Grant,” Buha added. “This was a horrible audition for him, especially if he is trying to be a Laker or if he is trying to be picked up by a contender somewhere else.”
He added: “This is a very disengaged performance from Jerami Grant. I’m now leaning against trading for him.”
Jerami Grant was also rumored to be a prospect for the Golden State Warriors, mainly to help boost the team’s defense and complement their current roster.
Jerami Grant: Would Blazers Trade For Multiple Draft Picks?
Jerami Grant may find his way to the Houston Rockets, in a new potential trade deal that would land Portland new names for their roster, as well as multiple future season draft picks.
In a new trade proposal, the Portland Trailblazers could unload themselves of Grant and at the same time land new players and at least three future draft picks.
In the proposed deal, the Rockets receive Grant and center Robert Williams III. Grant could prove as a versatile forward while Williams could bring in more defense to the team.
On the other hand, the Blazers would forwards Dillon Brooks, Cam Whitmore, and Jabari Smith Jr., as well as 2025 first-round draft pick, a 2027 first-round draft pick swap, and a 2025 second-round draft pick.
