Golden State Warriors’ new star Jimmy Butler seemed to have fully settled in with the team in the Bay Area, as he continued to put out one impressive play after another. Now, even Warriors head coach Steev Kerr has acknowledged his dominance on the court, particularly the legendary “Playoff Jimmy.”
In a post-game interview following their victory over the Detroit Pistons, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised Jimmy Butler for how he has proved to be an essential teammate on the court, particularly in clutch moments.
“This is part of the Jimmy dynamic,” Kerr said. “He is built for these kinds of games. He’ll get us a shot, he’ll get to the line, and he’ll take big shots. Playoff Jimmy is a real thing, and in some ways that felt like a playoff game with the physicality. It was kind of a Rocky fight, frankly. Guys like Jimmy really thrive in these type of games.”
With these things said, an anonymous NBA scout told ESPN that at this point, the Warriors have become a team no one would want to face in the playoffs.
“No one will want to play them in the playoffs,” the scout said. “Jimmy with fresh legs and motivation … honeymoon-phase Jimmy is a motherf****r…People way too quickly forgot what Jimmy Butler can do. He’s not a franchise player in that he doesn’t do it in the regular season, but when it comes to the playoffs, he’s a franchise player. He’s a superstar when you need to be winning.”
