Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, outside of the basketball court, is also dipping his toes in business, pursuing his passion for coffee with his cafe Big Face Coffee. He recently opened his first physical cafe in Miami’s Design District, and popular names have come across to hang around and take a sip from his menu.
In an Instagram story, rapper and music producer DJ Khaled shared a photo of him outside the Big Face Coffee, tagging Jimmy Butler on the post.
“Bless up,” DK Khaled said in his caption.
In an interview with The Washington Post where his coffee business was featured, Butler proudly declared that he feels like he is still in his prime as a basketball player.
“I still think I’m in my prime if I’m being brutally honest,” said Butler. “Now, as this coffee life takes off, I’m going to be in here daily making coffee, enjoying the vibes and letting everybody see and know that it’s not a gimmick. This is my passion, and it’s going to be my passion even when I’m done playing.”
Despite being a professional athlete, Butler would like to position himself and present himself to the world as someone who is serious about his business.
“[The coffee world] can see that I’m for real and that I’m trying,” Butler said. “They are embracing me because I’m a basketball player who is really about that life of a barista and cares to learn. You have to be vulnerable. I have a lot to study up on, and it just humbles me.
“It gives me a lot of respect for everybody that does it at a high level,” he added.
