Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid is still unable to see action in the 2024-25 NBA season, but he’s already been slapped with a technical foul. On Monday, the NBA gave Embiid a tech for his action during last Sunday’s 118-114 overtime win on the road against the Indiana Pacers.
The particular infraction took place during the overtime of the 76ers-Pacers game. While Indiana guard Andrew Nembhard was trying to shoot a free throw with just under 20 seconds left in OT, Embiid was seen waving a towel from the bench in an apparent attempt to distract Nembhard.

Fortunately for Embiid and the 76ers, they still got the win over the Pacers, with Tyrese Maxey leading Philly with an astounding offensive performance. Maxey went off for 45 points, while Caleb Martin and Eric Gordon provided 17 and 15 points, respectively. Andre Drummond, starting in place of Embiid nearly had a double-double with nine points and 17 rebounds.
Embiid remains out with a knee injury, but he could potentially make his season debut as soon as this Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistons. It is also worth noting that a player who receives at least 16 technical fouls in a season will earn an automatic one-game suspension,
