Los Angeles Sparks point guard Kelsey Plum brought smiles and laughs to her fans on social media as she shared a dental procedure disaster she recently experienced, all the while being affected by it.
In a video, Sparks star Kelsey Plum talked about her recent dental visit, where she initially simply wanted her teeth cleaned, However, she ended up getting a few fillings, and the medications made her lips “so fat,” also affecting the way she spoke.
“Being an adult, so they say,” Plum said in the video. “You know it’s like. Let me just take my off day, go to the dentist, and get my teeth cleaned. And bam! Fillings! Doc goes, ‘Hey, I’m going to inject this novocaine, and you’re not going to be able to feel your lip. Your lip’s gonna feel fat.’ Five minutes later, he goes, ‘How does it feel?'”
“I said, ‘Doc, my lip feels fatter than a BBL! My lip is so fat!’ [I’m] Just feeling so grateful for fillings I didn’t even know I needed!”
The video brought a lot of laughs to fans as she was obviously having a hard time speaking, and her voice ended up sounding funny because of the condition of her lips and mouth at that moment. Still, she pushed through with her storytelling.
Additionally, Plum told a story of how she was asked by a fan for a photo, and she ended up having one of her eyes closed for it. She also mentioned she could not feel her tongue, and that she was uncertain until when the numbness would last.

Kelsey Plum Gets Credited by Connecticut Rookie
Connecticut Suns rookie and 2025 No. 8 pick Saniya Rivers gave credit to Kelsey Plum and her Dawg Class for transforming her perspective on basketball and life. After struggling with self-doubt during her collegiate career, Rivers attended Plum’s elite training camp following the 2023-2024 season.

During a poolside conversation, Plum reassured Rivers that she had the potential to thrive in the WNBA, encouraging her to pursue the professional league.
“I have a high expectation for myself, so it’s easy for me to get down when things aren’t going my way,” Rivers said. “But (Plum) just taught me to flip that perspective and just turn it into something beautiful.”
“Kelsey Plum will never know the impact she had in my life, and I wear this dog bone every day,” Rivers said proudly. “… I received the bone from a dog and it just really motivates me (to) continue to be a dog.”
