The Minnesota Timberwolves are not experiencing a slow season—this is who they are. Or at least, that was what former Boston Celtics center and now spots analyst Kendrick Perkins think.
In his recent appearance on “NBA on ESPN,” Perkins discussed the citation with the Timberwolves, following their recent loss to the Toronto Raptors. While the team is not at the bottom of the Western Conference, people certainly expected more from them especially since they made it to the finals last season.
Perkins believed that at this point, it was apparent what type of team the Timberwolves are.
“(This is) exactly who they are, a Play-in team,” Perkins said. “It’s so frustrating. Respect to Rudy [Gobert], a four-time Defensive Player of the Year. Do your damn role, man! Your role is to block shots, rebound, and screen and get to the dunker’s spot. Why was Anthony Edwards yelling at Rudy? Because the play was actually an isolation to get Julius (Randle) downhill.”

Minnesota Timberwolves is “Lacking Professionalism”
Julius Randle, playing his first season for the Timberwolves after being traded from the New York Knicks, believes that the team is at their low point, and that somethings needs to be done about it.
“Yeah, I’d say it’s a low point for us as a team,” said Randle, in a post-game locker room interview.

Despite this, Randle expressed belief in his team and that they would be able to bounce back from these losses, but it would take a team effort to pull it off.
“I know we’ll turn it around, he continued. “I have faith in everybody in this locker room that we’ll turn it around but at this point, we gotta look at ourselves in the mirror and decide what type of team we wanna be on a consistent basis. We’ve had great games, we’ve had not great games. Myself included. I have to look myself in the mirror and say I gotta be better.”
When asked about what he thinks is wrong with how the Minnesota Timberwolves operated recently, Randle had two reasons to give: “execution and just being professional.”
He added: “We can’t look at, ‘Oh we’re playing the Raptors.’ They’re 3-12 or whatever, and alright we got an easy one and we can go worry about our individual stuff. We can’t do that. We gotta be professional and understand that it’s about us as a team, us every night coming out building the right habits, doing the right things.”
The Minnesota Timberwolves will play the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
