NBA veteran Kevin Durant plans to enter the sports investment business after recently winning his fourth Olympic gold medal. The 35-year-old power forward from the Phoenix Suns became a minority owner in the soccer powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain.
The football club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, welcomed Kevin Durant and his entrepreneur, Rich Kleiman, earlier this month. The NBA veteran and Kleiman’s sister company, Boardroom Sports Holdings, officially announced their stakes with a minority investor in X.
“BREAKING: 2x NBA Champion Kevin Durant has invested in Paris Saint-Germain through his Boardroom Sports Holdings, LLC via Arctos Partners, the strategic minority investor in the club.”
The multimedia company also implied that Kevin Durant recently visited the PSG Campus hours before the final match against Team France at the men’s basketball finals. The 14-time NBA All-Star explored the facility’s state-of-the-art training and education centers.
Durant saw how the PSG trains future soccer stars, particularly women and children, and saw it as a huge chance to develop an investment and propagate sports around the world. He invested in Arctos Partners a 12.5% stake in December, getting a million or more from it.
Paris Saint-Germain is a soccer powerhouse based in Paris, France. It participates in Ligue 1, the top professional football league in the nation. The team is the most successful French club in history, holding the record in all of the nation’s soccer leagues.
The team is majority-owned by Qatar Sports Investments, led by Qatari businessman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Its minority owners are the Arctos Partners, with whom Durant and Kleiman shared their investments.
This isn’t the first time Durant has entered business. He, along with his family, oversees Thirty-Five Ventures, the two-time NBA champion’s family office, which was founded in 2017.
Kevin Durant also has minority shares in the Major League Soccer team Philadelphia Union, having a 5% stake, which might be added. He’s also an investor in Just Women’s Sports, then to Coinbase. He eventually invested in the professional pickleball team, the Brooklyn Aces.
Kevin Durant has the potential to become a successful businessman after playing in the NBA.
The NBA veteran has more years to continue playing. Throughout his sixteen years in the professional league, he has been a two-time NBA champion, a two-time NBA Finals MVP, and a four-time Olympic gold medalist.
Outside the court, Durant shares many holdings with other sports teams. Being one of the world’s highest-earning basketball players, he can enter the business world after retiring from basketball.
