Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant doesn’t want to hear about your complaints about the NBA. The NBA All-Star Weekend was under attack from fans online, media personalities, and players such as Draymond Green.
The complaints about the All-Star game are just another drop in the bucket from frustrated fans about the direction of the sport. Fans are unhappy about the number of games that starters take off for rest days. They don’t like the style of play encouraging three-point contests.
Phoenix Sun’s star would be willing to cancel the All-Star game

In a post on X on Monday, Durant suggested the league should get rid of the All-Star game since fans don’t enjoy the festivities.
“I think it’s more fun to complain about the nba than to actually watch it,” Durant posted on X. “Crazy, cancel all star weekend and let’s just give everybody a break since we’re so miserable around this time.”

Durant has a point, no game would be better than what was just witnessed on Sunday night. I’m not sure the game would really be missed at all next season if they went with Sunday’s format.
The NHL has found a way to improve their All-Star game, and it should be promoted over the NBA in its current format.
Mike Gunzelman replied to Durant, explaining how unwatchable the event was.
“KD… today’s a day off for yall I am asking you to rewatch the FULL live broadcast – with the unreal amount of commercials, breaks, everything else, today Watch it from your couch,” Gunzelman posted. “And see if you can watch the full event straight through And it was an ALL STAR GAME. Not ideal.”

Kevin Durant sounds off on NBA fans

Durant responded to Gunzelman, arguing that NBA fans complain about all changes.
“I get it,”Durant posted. “My point is, fans complain about EVERYTHING. Like nothing is good enough for the fans right now. Only thing they enjoy is playoffs, trade deadline, free agency and when players beef with each other lol.”

People watch the playoffs because that’s the only time when it feels like the games matter. The games matter and are pleasing to watch because the best players in the sport are playing the game at 100%.
So no, 50% effort and 40-point contests aren’t good enough for fans.
