Kevin Durant may be chasing his third championship ring (be it with the Phoenix Suns or elsewhere), but fans who love his game couldn’t help but look back at every aspect of his Hall of Fame career.
While there are numerous highlights in his 17-year career, his first NBA Finals run as the face of the Oklahoma City Thunder could be considered special. While he was regarded as a prolific scorer early in his career, his first Finals run as the primary scorer for the Baby Thunder alongside Russell Westbrook and James Harden was his breakout year as a legitimate superstar.

It was during the 2012 postseason where Durant reportedly faced his most difficult opponents. And before you say anything, the answer isn’t LeBron James and the Heatles.
Kevin Durant claims the 2012 San Antonio Spurs were his most difficult postseason opponents

Durant, an avid social media user, was asked which team he found most difficult to face in his long career. Given how many outstanding teams he’s faced in his career, it might have been difficult to predict where the Slim Reaper would be going with his response.
However, his response to his Twitter/X followers might surprise fans: it’s the 2012 San Antonio Spurs.
Per ClutchPoints’ Jedd Pagaduan:
“2012 wcf, spurs…against a team who won like 20 games n a row or some s**t. Down 0-2, won 4 straight games to go to the finals…legendary series imo, especially that game 6,” Durant wrote.
It may be surprising to some that Durant would choose the Spurs when he’s faced multiple outstanding outfits over the years. However, it’s also important to remember that the Spurs made two consecutive Finals after this series. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili were still among the best trios in the association at the time. Kawhi Leonard was coming into his own as the team’s fourth star.
KD was phenomenal against the Spurs during the series: he put up 29.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks a game. He was vital to the Thunder’s six-game victory over the Spurs.

Durant still has years left in the tank, so fans can expect more postseason appearances. It remains to be seen if he’ll have aa better series than what he experienced in his younger years.
