Kim Kardashian was unexpectedly brought into the basketball world when Cameron Brink compared Lonzo Ball to the reality TV superstar, highlighting the Chicago Bulls’ star presence in the docu-reality world.
During Monday’s episode of “Straight to Cam,” Brink and co-host Sydel Curry-Lee were discussing the Ball family when suddenly, the Los Angeles Sparks star pointed out how Ball was early exposed to fame through the “Ball in the Family” show, which ran from 2017 until 2020.
“One thing we can all relate to is being in the spotlight, but you were like the Kim Kardashian of the NBA,” Brink said.
Brink then explained the reason behind the catchy nickname.
“(You) had a whole reality TV show going into your rookie season, but Ball in the family, I actually watched it and I loved it … No I actually thought it was hilarious. I love reality TV.”
Ball, surprised, wryly replied: “I mean, she’s a billionaire, but I feel it.”
The Ball’s show, which aired on Facebook Watch, followed the family’s behind-the-scenes personal lives, consisting of Lonzo, brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo, and their parents LaVar and Tina. With six seasons and 116 episodes, the show had a similar structure to “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” which made Kim Kardashian a household name.

Kim Kardashian isn’t a stranger to NBA players. She dated and married former player Kris Humphries but divorced two years following a contentious legal battle. Her sisters, Khloe and Kendall, were also involved with NBA stars such as Tristan Thompson and Devin Booker.
Kim Kardashian eyed meeting Luka Doncic after Lakers trade
Back in February, Kim Kardashian added to the buzz surrounding Luka Doncic’s blockbuster move to the Los Angeles Lakers. In her past Instagram story, the reality TV icon and business mogul shared her desire to meet the Slovenian superstar before his debut in Los Angeles.
“Does anyone know when he will be playing?” Kardashian posted in her story, sharing the Lakers’ post welcoming Doncic. “I want to meet him!”

Doncic, one of the NBA’s brightest stars, made headlines with the surprising three-team trade that sent the Lakers’ former big man, Anthony Davis, to the Dallas Mavericks. This was the first in NBA history that two reigning All-NBA players were traded by their teams in midseason.

Despite Kim Kardashian’s buzz, Doncic never responded to the TV superstar’s antics. Instead, he focused on his Lakers debut, helping the team end up in third place in the Western Conference. Still, the moment added an extra layer of intrigue to an already controversial situation.
