Jalen Brunson was not there the during time Trae Young made New York Knicks fans seethe with anger and disappointment.
He’s here now, and the result is . . he was not able to do anything to help the fans exact their revenge.
Young and the Hawks got one at MSG again for a chance to battle the Milwaukee Bucks in the Final Four of the NBA Emirates Cupl
The Hawks All-Star got the bragging rights again and he rubbed it in by rolling the dice on the Knicks logo after the final buzzer.
This did not sit well with many Knicks fans but Brunson can’t do anything about it.
He actually knows one way to stop Young from doing that but they’re gonna have to wait next season.
“We should win the game if we don’t want him to do that,” Brunson said post game.
The Knicks lost but not for lack of trying.
All members of the Knicks starting 5 scored in double digits but much of it came in the first half and fourth quarter when the Hawks were already in control of the game.
Tom Thibodeau has more controversial take than Jalen Brunson
While Brunson dwells more on their performance as a team, his coach Tim Thibodeau thinks it is because of the officiating.
Thibodeau was asked after the game what he thought about their loss but instead of breaking down the game, he pointed to one game official who he has a history with.
“I just looked at who was refereeing and I knew what it was going to be like,” the Knicks coach said.
The referee he is talking about is Jacyn Goble who was also part of the game the Knicks lost to the Houston Rockets last season for what they believe, and general NBA community, as a bogus call.
The play involved a foul call on Brunson against Aaron Holiday when there was just 0.3 seconds left. Holiday made two free throws and the Rockets won, 105-103.
The Knicks filed a formal protest for the result but it was denied by the league.
