LiAngelo Ball and his partner just gave birth to a son, but his father, LaVar Ball, already sees a lot of potential in the new member of their household.
The patriarch even boasted that his grandson would become a future number-one pick in the NBA Draft.
“This [is] how it goes, don’t let that happen again. No. 1 pick right here, trust me when I tell you. Triple Bs finna run loose,” Ball said.

If LiAngelo Ball’s son indeed becomes the top pick of the draft, he might fulfill what his uncles Lonzo and LaMelo fell a little bit short of.

Lonzo Ball was selected second overall in the 2017 draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, but after showing some promise in the last two seasons that he played, he sat out the past two years due to knee issues.
LaMelo, on the other hand, had a better career so far after being picked third overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2020 draft.
LaMelo would become the Rookie of the Year in 2021 and made the All-Star team the following season.
Last season, he averaged nearly 24 points per game, but since he was still recovering from a fractured ankle the previous year, he was only limited to 22 games as Charlotte is still looking to make the postseason in the LaMelo Ball era.

LaVar Ball discusses sons’ injuries
Regarding his sons’ injury issues, LaVar Ball, in an interview last April, said that he is optimistic that they would overcome their recent health bugs.
“Well, mentally, they got a strong mindset,” LaVar said. They [are] Balls, so they’re going to come back. They’re going to rehab. They’re going to do their thing.”
However, the patriarch did not hesitate to blame the Hornets and Chicago Bulls’ conditioning teams for failing to strengthen his sons’ legs enough to stay healthy in the long run.
“Because you condition your body for running and jumping. You’ve got to condition your legs. So, that’s why I always have my boys in them hills and running hard in them hills. That will make you run like a deer when you get on that court, so you won’t be getting hurt,” LaVar Ball continued.
The co-founder of the Big Baller Brand then took a swipe at Puma, LaMelo Ball’s current outfitter, for giving him “raggedy shoes” that he believes contributed to his ankle injury, saying that the Puma MB.01 is not exactly tailor-made for him.
Both Lonzo and LaMelo Ball are expected to make a full return to action for the 2024–2025 NBA season.
