The Dallas Mavericks have shockingly won the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery and are now poised to add freshman sensation Cooper Flagg to their team. With superstar Luka Dončić long gone, Mavericks fans have battled a truly depressing time as the 2024-25 season came to a close. However, they now have more excitement for the upcoming season than possibly any team, as Flagg is set to join a championship core headlined by Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.

Dallas Mavericks Shockingly Win 2025 NBA Draft Lottery

After being at the center of the most dramatic NBA storyline in years, the Dallas Mavericks have struck gold in the NBA Draft Lottery. Mere months after Mavs general manager shocked the world by trading away one of the greatest players in the league, face of the franchise Luka Dončić, the team is now set to welcome one of the most exciting prospects in years.

After sending Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers, more than a few fans thought the franchise was cursed. Harrison became public enemy #1, and after a rash of injuries saw almost every key player go down, including new star Anthony Davis and Dončić’s former running mate Kyrie Irving, Dallas crashed out in the Play-In and missed the postseason entirely.

With just a 1.8% chance of getting the #1 pick, the Mavs achieved the impossible and are now set to draft Cooper Flagg.

    NBA Stars React to Dallas

Even some of the NBA’s biggest stars were in shock when the Mavericks won the right to the #1 overall pick. Dončić’s new teammate LeBron James reacted only with emojis.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Former NBA champion Kevin Love was in complete and utter disbelief.

There is no fucking way 🤣🤣🤣

    — Kevin Love (@kevinlove) May 12, 2025

I mean come on man 🤣🤣🤣

The Mavericks could potentially have one of the league’s most exciting squads next year, even off the back of unceremoniously sending Dončić out of town. It is exceedingly rare that a team ever becomes better after sacrificing one of the best players in the league via trade, but Dallas could very well be a dark horse championship contender next year.
