LeBron James‘ son Bronny was selected 55th by the Los Angeles Lakers in this year’s draft, and the fans can’t seem to wait to see them play together. Bronny’s selection marks the first time in NBA history that a father-and-son tandem will play in the same season and on the same NBA team.
As if sharing the same sentiments with the fans, the 20-time NBA All-Star took to Instagram to share a hilarious meme video featuring “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair and “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson, but with his and his son’s faces superimposed on the faces of the wrestling hall of famers.
The meme was originally shared on Instagram by Franklin Yi (@franklinthomasyi), and LeBron, who seemingly found himself cracking up after seeing it, shared it on his IG story.
Dubbed one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Flair is a multi-time champion known for his charisma, from his promos to his wrestling matches. He and Anderson were part of the legendary wrestling faction, “The Four Horsemen.”
LeBron James talks about the noise surrounding Bronny
With a lot of talk going on about Bronny James, his father, LeBron James, shared in an interview an interesting comparison with how the media covered him in his rookie run and how they are covering his son now.
“I don’t know if people really understand Bronny,” James told ESPN Sunday. “He doesn’t care. I actually care a little bit. When I came in (as a rookie), I wanted people to like me, and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career. … He doesn’t give a f***. He does not care about nobody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff.”
LeBron was one of the most promising prospects out of high school when he entered the NBA in 2003. He had exceptional athleticism, playmaking, and shooting ability as a rookie. However, the reputation he developed at such a young age caused the media to be skeptical of him.
The four-time NBA champion also shared how significantly different his old mindset is from how he currently carries himself. LeBron used to overthink about the kind of narratives the media would run about him; now he’s aware that he can only control how he plays on the court.
It took him a while to mature and realize that outside distractions weren’t worth his time. Furthermore, he noted that Bronny is already entering the NBA with that mentality.

Many view Bronny as a developmental player, but as per Lakers coach JJ Redick, it is still a remarkable achievement for LeBron to still be active and play long enough in the NBA until his son can join the league. While the younger James has made clear his goal to make a name for himself and play his own brand of basketball, fans still eagerly look forward to seeing how he performs side-by-side with his father.
