Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James sent Carolina Panthers’ Bryce Young some words of consolation after Panthers head coach Dave Canales announced they will be benching the young quarterback in favor of veteran Andy Dalton.
Young has had a rocky start to his young NFL career, tallying a disappointing 2-16 record as a starter. The future of the first-overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft looked bleaker after his demotion due to his rather weak performance in their 26-3 Week 2 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers.
“Bryce Young hold ya head, young [king]!! Rooting for you, and know this ain’t on you! Continue to put the work in and it shall prevail!” King James posted on X to cheer the young footballer up.
As the first overall draft pick like LeBron James, Bryce Young had massive expectations on his shoulders but couldn’t quite meet them. He is known for his ability to process and cycle through reads, but has yet to translate these skills into the pro level.
Young has got to be disappointed with his demotion, but James’ words of encouragement may have certainly picked him up.
Kendrick Perkins speaks candidly about LeBron James’ longevity
While it remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers can win another NBA championship with LeBron James, no one seems to doubt that the 20-time NBA All-Star can add a few more achievements to his legendary résumé
Former NBA player-turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins believes there are still more honors in store for the 39-year-old James.
“No cap! LeBron is gonna make a few All-NBA teams before he retires, and I mean at a minimum [of] two… Don’t give me anything about his age… as long as he’s on the floor, LeBron James is gonna be an All-NBA-caliber player, and he’s gonna make a few of them before he retires,” Perkins said.
LeBron James proved to still be a formidable force on the hardwood last season despite his advancing age, averaging 25.7 points and 7.3 rebounds, shooting 54% from the field and 41% from the three-point area. He also led Team USA to another Olympic gold in Paris last summer, becoming the tournament MVP in the process.
King James continues to be an elite player and go against Father Time. The Lakers heavily rely on him and Anthony Davis to lead them to another championship run in the upcoming season. It also remains to be seen if teaming up with his son Bronny will add further fuel to LeBron’s fire.
