ABC presented a special interview with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry. The special interview called “NBA OGs Convo,” the trio of stars talked about the legacy they’ve built in the league.
A sneak peek of the interview was shown on ESPN’s “NBA Today” on Tuesday. In the short clip, LeBron James and the other two veteran stars had a moment of reflection on their careers.
“We all have an experience of, either watching each other play or knowing each other when we first met to now,” Curry said. “That evolution is just so dope to watch because you truly understand what it takes to be great at this level, so that respect is always there.”
“I think we’ve cemented ourself when it comes to the game of basketball and what we do,” James said. “But I think the admiration comes from the longevity of being able to wake up every single day and still have the drive to want to be great.”
“You see these guys grind up to be who they are right now and the stamina that you had to still being in the league for 20 years… but to still get up and go to the gym at 6:00 a.m., to still want to put up a thousand shots every day. But to keep that joy and love for the game first is what’s keeping all of us going. That shines bright every time you see them step on the floor.”
The full interview between the three stars will air on ABC on Christmas Day.
LeBron James chose which skills he’d want from the other two stars
During their walk, one of the questions was about which skills each player would want to have from the others. According to LeBron James, he’d love to have Durant’s pull-up jumper. The Suns’ star has a deadly midrange jump shot that James has witnessed for quite a long time.
For Durant, he said he’d want Curry’s quick release, a skill that the Warriors star has mastered. The two-time MVP stated he would like to incorporate James’ basketball acumen into his game.
