LeBron James again added another achievement to his legacy by winning his fourth gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was also awarded the Olympic MVP in the sport, a rare award only given to two other people. The continuous flux of awards in the four-time NBA champion’s career sparked the debate about who was better between him and Michael Jordan.
For the two-time NBA All-Star, Stephon Marbury remains steadfast that no one will surpass MJ’s legacy, not even James. In an interview with NBA Insider Brandon “Scoop B” Johnson, Marbury said that there shouldn’t be any debate between James and Jordan in the first place.
“People wanna rank Jordan? Jordan shouldn’t even be ranked,” Marbury said. “It should be Kobe, then LeBron and then you can pick guys after that. There’s just no comparison man. It’s not the same. It’s just different worlds. Different mentalities. I don’t know why Jordan’s name is mentioned in the same conversation sometimes.”
Marbury said the twenty-time NBA All-Star could only be compared to Michael Jordan if he surpasses Bryant.
These opinions aren’t new to the 47-year-old former NBA player, as he has defended Jordan numerous times from people trying to compare him for years.
People obviously took Marbury’s opinion seriously and never hesitated to criticize the former Beijing Royal Fighters head coach.
However, Marbury even welcomed the criticisms, saying he expected the people’s barrages. He doesn’t care what people say about him.
“Have at it, Twitter! The matrix is designed for you to live in this program. Mind you, all that’s happening is talk and type. This has no bearing on anyone. If my opinion offends you, my energy will irk you forever. I’m okay with humans thinking what they think about me.❤️is❤️😂.”
The three-time Chinese Basketball Association MVP also said that James doesn’t even deserve the Olympic MVP.
James is one of Team USA’s leading figures, significantly contributing to their victories. He even got a triple-double in the nation’s semifinal match against Serbia, gaining 16 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds.
LeBron James aims to get another championship in the final years of his career.
LeBron James approaches his 21st season in the NBA. So far, he is a four-time NBA champion, a four-time NBA Finals MVP, and a four-time NBA MVP.
The Lakers forward, already 39 years old, attempts to win his fifth championship in the next season.
James has already made many achievements throughout his career, and another NBA championship will surely be marked as one of the most excellent awards of his career.
