Los Angeles veteran star LeBron James and NFL rookie Shedeur Sanders have one thing in common: they are both subjects of “bad media hype” by one huge media outlet. At least, this is what analyst and critic Jason Whitlock thinks of the issue.
In one of the recent episodes of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock blasted sports media giant ESPN for overhyping Shedeur Sanders, the same way, as he believed, they have overhyped LeBron James. In particular, he highlighted Shannon Sharpe’s enthusiasm towards the Lakers and his “Lakers in 5” catchphrase.
“The hype machine,” Whitlock said. “This is Shedeur Sanders all over again. What did I say? What went on in Colorado for two years? Media would show up, broadcast the game, and constant propaganda.”
“You’re watching one of the great quarterbacks in the history of college football. It’s amazing what Shadur Sanders can do. He can spin it. He’s John Elway. He’s Joe Montana. Tom Brady’s mentoring him. Shadur in five—fifth round.”
“This is what the media does. It lies and propagandizes and installs icons.”
“The LeBron James I’m just talking about these last six, seven years in Los Angeles,” Whitlock added. “It’s been a PSYOP. It’s been a script. It hasn’t been based in reality.”

Is LeBron James Retiring After the 2024-2025 Season?
Following their elimination from the NBA playoffs for the 2024-2025 season, the question of retirement and hanging it all up has been asked of veteran star LeBron James.
“Since my first NBA Finals appearance in 2007, the moment I got an opportunity to be a part of that and taste that feeling, from there on every season that I didn’t make it to the Finals or didn’t win a championship has been a disappointment,” James said. “[This year] will be the same for me. It will be the same offseason of disappointment and unfulfillment. Nothing changes for me.”

With that said, James simply described his plans for the next season as “I don’t know.”
“We’ll see,” James added. “It’s a business, too. We don’t know what the roster will look like next year, besides the guys who are locked into contracts. I mean, s***, I have a lot to think about myself. I don’t know what the roster will look like. I don’t know where I stand right now.”

So far, including the 2024-2025 season, LeBron James has played in the NBA for 22 seasons, and has played through multiple teams from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat, and now with the Los Angeles Lakers.
