LeBron James was one of the crucial players in saving Team USA from a devastating loss against Serbia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Unlike past games, the four-time NBA champion decided to play more minutes for the team, culminating in his clutch performance in the final quarter.
As the Americans face Team France in the Finals, James knows the fight is still far from over. Post-match against Serbia, he gave an inspiring speech to his teammates, rallying them for one more match for an Olympic gold medal. An X user marked his tiny speech.
“One f**king more,” LeBron to Team USA after the game against Serbia.
From the start, Team USA’s main goal was to win one more gold medal at the Olympics. If granted, it would also be the Lakers veteran’s third Olympic championship in his basketball career.
Their semifinal match against Serbia was indeed surprising. Thanks to the comeback genes of NBA veterans James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry, they led by four points against the European powerhouses at the end of the match.
James also commended the teamwork and hard play of his teammates. He said that despite facing overwhelming odds, the perseverance, dedication, and hard work of Team USA can achieve anything.
The twenty-time NBA All-Star said that as one of the veterans and role models of the younger players on the roster, he’ll continue to be bellicose and display experienced ball for the team.
In the recent match, James had a triple-double, scoring 16 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds over 32 minutes of action. He was helped by Stephen Curry, who led the team in points, and Joel Embiid, who had 19. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant also contributed.
Team USA will face France in the finals to get their seventeenth gold medal in their Olympic career. In contrast, the latter aims to get their first Olympic gold medal in basketball. The two teams already faced off in Tokyo, where the Americans won by just five points.
LeBron James’ veteran skills are a massive factor for Team USA.
Despite being old, the four-time NBA champion proves his ball plays are still overwhelming. After the match against Serbia, James is now second in steals and third in assists in Olympic history.
This time, however, James now imbues a sense of leadership and professionalism. The 2024 Paris Olympics may be his final dance on the international stage, so he’ll use it to imbue his legacy.
