LeBron James and Team USA gave a rib-tickling message to Olympic track and field gold medalist Noah Lyles. After winning against Team France in the finals, the men’s basketball team, comprised of all NBA players, responded to Lyles’ previous hot take about the pro basketball league.
The official account of Team USA on X recently posted a photo of all of their players on the top podium. The caption, in particular, gave a short but plain reference to Lyles.
“Are we the World Champs now?” captioned by USA Basketball with an American Flag.
Recently, Team USA won another gold medal against France in the finals.
Thanks to the hot hands of Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and other NBA veterans, the Americans stopped the French. Their victory is their fifth consecutive Olympic championship in the sport.
Meanwhile, Noah Lyles just won his first Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter run in athletics. He’s currently top performer in 100- and 200-meter runs in the world rankings.
The 2024 Paris Olympics is his second time in the grand competition. In Tokyo last year, he won a bronze medal in the 200-meter run.
Lyles caught tons of criticism and controversies because of his opinions about NBA players being the “world champions.” He argued that the league is just mostly made up of Americans and American cities anyway
Additionally, the 27-year-old runner thinks that being a champion in the NBA (for ex., the Boston Celtics recently) doesn’t mean they’re now hailed as the best of the best. Lyles was disappointed and hurt.
However, his opinions made many American people angry with him. Because of this, he never got most of their support, even though he won a gold medal for the nation.
Throughout the decades, most NBA players have played for Team USA in the Olympics. Most of those attained gold medals, except for 2004. Even though it’s evident that those from the pro basketball league are emerging as champions for five straight Olympics.
LeBron James was awarded the Olympic MVP in men’s basketball.
Once more, the King has added another achievement to his legacy. LeBron James, the oldest active player on Team USA and even in the NBA, had taken his third gold medal in his Olympic career.
He and teammate Kevin Durant are among the three players to be named Olympic MVPs.
James and his closest teammate (and rival), Stephen Curry, are also included in the Olympic All-Star Five.
