LeBron James commended WNBA star A’ja Wilson’s buzzer-beater shot in her recent game against the Chicago Sky. The two-time WNBA champion had decided there was no need for overtime after tying with the Sky in the near seconds of the fourth quarter through a game-ending layup.
James took a short time to congratulate Wilson in his official account at X/Twitter. The Lakers’ veteran had expressed excitement about the game, tagging the Las Vegas Aces star with applauding emojis.
“Game blouses! @_ajawilson22,,” said James on his X post.
The Sky, led by Angel Reese, was up for most of the game. However, the Aces were determined to make a comeback in the final quarter. They even managed to take the lead. However, Chennedy Carter from Chicago tied the game with seconds left in the final segment.
That’s where A’Ja Wilson swooped in. Through a pass by Jackie Young, Wilson made a quick layup to the court. It was made in time, breaking the tie, 77-75. It secured the Las Vegas Aces’ 18th win this WNBA season.
Throughout most of the game, the two-time WNBA MVP was heavily guarded by her opponents. Hence, she can only achieve so many breakthroughs. However, she began heating up in the Aces’ comeback.
Despite only successfully shooting eight out of 28 times, A’Ja Wilson still had a double-double in the game. She still led her team in shooting, with 20 points. She also had 18 rebounds, 12 of which were from defense.
She was assisted by Kelsey Plum, who had 18 points, and Megan Gustafson and Chelsea Gray, who had 13 and 11 points, respectively. At the end of the game, Wilson recognized her frustration for not providing the offense her team needed during the recent match.
However, she also blamed the poor decisions made by the officials at that game, which she believed led to her unexpected performance. Nevertheless, Wilson still managed to secure the Las Vegas Aces’ overall fifth spot this season.
LeBron James continues to support Wilson for the season.
LeBron James’ recent X post praising the South Carolina Gamecocks’ alumnus wasn’t his first. In fact, it was just one of his numerous posts expressing his admiration and support for her for the whole of the current season.
James also praised Wilson after being the first player in WNBA history to record at least 35.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.0 steals in a game. The King never hesitated to congratulate her, calling her the “absolute best” in the women’s basketball league.
