Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is injured again. According to Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico on Tuesday, Ball is dealing with a right wrist sprain. The veteran point guard will be re-evaluated in 10 days and could miss at least six games.
Ball returned to the lineup for the first time since 2022. The former UCLA standout dealt with knee issues that kept him out for two seasons. During his time away from the court, the point guard focused on staying healthy and ramping up his return to action.

According to Amico, the injury happened in the Bulls‘ 126-123 win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

The Bulls have been cautious in the return of the 6-foot-6 point guard. Ball has played three games this season and hasn’t cracked the 20-minute mark on the floor. In his return game (the team’s season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans), the guard only played for 13 minutes. He finished with five points, two rebounds and four assists.
As part of the team’s injury management, Ball did not play in Chicago’s second game. He played 15 minutes in the Bulls’ third game, marking his second appearance. The 27-year-old ended the night with three points, five rebounds and an assist.

He scored a season-high six points in 17 minutes of action against the Grizzlies on Monday. Ball also had six assists and a block.
Ball has averaged 4.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in three games thus far this season. The Bulls guard hasn’t found his rhythm in shooting the basketball, only making 35.7% of his shots from the field. He has only made 33.3% of his shots from beyond the arc, indicating that his outside stroke hasn’t been consistent.

Billy Donovan, the head coach of the Bulls, has begun to capitalize on his team’s two enormous playmakers. Before Lonzo Ball returned to the lineup, the front office traded for Josh Giddey. Like Ball, the Australian guard is known as one of the best playmakers in the league.
Interestingly, Donovan decided to have Ball and Giddey share the court and operate the offense in their win against Memphis.
“I thought they were both good,” the coach said. “Those two guys can make the game easier. I think Lonzo’s talk in the game was really good, just giving guys confidence and belief.”
Ball also talked about his experience playing with another oversized facilitator in Giddey.
“I play with anybody, but Josh is definitely a different type of player,” Ball said. “I’m not used to having somebody out there that’s a point guard that can rebound, as well. So him being 6-8 and playing against a [power forward], if he gets the rebound, you have to get out a lot faster. So I enjoyed it.”
Monday’s 126-123 comeback victory over the Grizzlies showed Lonzo Ball's play and voice still carry weight. https://t.co/lrjygBzXp8
