Austin Rivers recently shared his thoughts on FX’s new series Clipped, which sheds light on the Los Angeles Clippers‘ infamous scandal involving former team owner Donald Sterling.
The 31-year-old combo guard, who played for the Los Angeles Clippers from 2015 to 2018 with his dad as the head coach, dropped a harsh review of the series because of its “questionable” casting choices.
“First off, Laurence Fishburne is a legend, big fan, he’s an absolute legend, and he’s a great actor, so the acting in this was great, but the body of my father is just a little bit different,” Rivers said on his podcast. “I’m not saying he’s 100 percent in shape, but he’s built a little bit different than Laurence Fishburne. We could have done a little bit of AI or something there.”
“This is really bad. The guy’s hairline’s receding already, and he looks just nothing like Blake (Griffin),” Rivers said, pointing to actor Austin Scott.
“That is my local A/C man, Frederick. Who is this? Who the hell is that?” Rivers said on J. Alphonse Nicholson, who played Chris Paul.
“There’s no effort in this. That looks nothing like DJ,” he added on Sheldon Bailey’s portrayal of DeAndre Jordan.
The Los Angeles Clippers have a big offseason ahead
Unlike Donald Sterling, current owner Steve Ballmer is fully committed to making the Los Angeles Clippers a winner and one of the biggest brands in the NBA.
The Los Angeles Clippers are moving into their new arena soon called the Intuit Dome. However, who will be on the court is among the decisions they will face this summer.
According to reports, the team plans to keep Paul George and James Harden alongside Kawhi Leonard. George has a player option for next season at $48.7 million, while Harden will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Other than these two, the Los Angeles Clippers will have to decide on the futures of Russell Westbrook, Ivica Zubac, and Terence Mann. Like George, Westbrook also has a player option, while Zubac and Mann are eligible for extensions this summer.
