It’s official. James Harden isn’t going anywhere. This is after it was reported on Sunday night that the Los Angeles Clippers have successfully negotiated a contract extension for the former NBA Most Valuable Player.
Harden’s new deal reportedly comes out to $70 million for two years.
Los Angeles Clippers News: James Harden Agrees to Two-Year Extension
Despite being linked to multiple teams in NBA free agency, Harden has decided that his future lies in LA. This report comes via Clippers insider Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints:
“James Harden has agreed to a 2-year, $70 million deal to stay with the Clippers, per @TomerAzarly,” ready the report on X, formerly Twitter.
Azarly also reported that Harden has a player option for the second season of his new deal.
It was previously reported that Harden was expected to re-sign with the Clippers despite the uncertainty surrounding Paul George’s new deal. LA, however, was expected to settle their issue with George first before finalizing Harden’s extension, which obviously isn’t the case right now. The Clippers supposedly wanted to get the George deal done first in order to determine how much money they would offer Harden.
Whether or not this massive development on the Harden front will now impact the Clipper’s negotiations with George remains to be seen. It is also unclear if Harden’s contract extension means that George is more unlikely to sign a new deal with LA.
