Just recently, All-Star wing Paul George signed with the Philadelphia 76ers and left the Los Angeles Clippers for nothing. This led sports analyst and former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins to give Kawhi Leonard a piece of stern advice about his new situation with the team.
George’s departure from the Clippers was partly due to a lack of communication between him and Leonard. The two All-Stars reportedly discussed the possibility of remaining with the team, but never talked specifics regarding their contract situations.

When the Los Angeles presented George with a three-year contract offer, he was reportedly unsatisfied with the terms and decided to explore other options. Meanwhile, Leonard had signed a three-year, $149.7 million extension with the team in January, leaving millions in guaranteed money on the table.
The Clippers’ decision to prioritize long-term financial flexibility over retaining George ultimately led to the breakdown of his five-year partnership with Leonard. In the end, George’s decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, who offered him a four-year max contract and a chance to play with former MVP Joel Embiid and and All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, proved to be the biggest domino to fall in free agency this offseason.
Kendrick Perkins Calls Kawhi Leonard Out After Paul George’s Los Angeles Clippers Exit

George’s decision to sign with the Sixers prompted various personalities to give their take on the matter. Among those who shared their thoughts was sports analyst Kendrick Perkins, as seen in a video shared by Vito Corleonie on X.

As it stands, Leonard will be left to play with a core that includes All-Star guard James Harden, Derrick Jones Jr., Kris Dunn, and Michael Porter Jr., among others. Like what Perkins said, this lineup doesn’t scream championship contenders in a Western Conference with younger teams getting more competitive.

It remains to be seen what Leonard will do in the upcoming season or how Los Angeles will perform without George in the lineup. In any case, things aren’t looking good for the two-time champion when the NBA returns later this year.
