Los Angeles Lakers fans have their preferences when it comes to narratives. If you ask them whether they like Austin Reaves’ or Bronny James’ story of how they got into the NBA, a good chunk of them would probably pick AR15.
Hillbilly Kobe cut an NBA career for himself by climbing through the ranks and securing a contract with the Purple and Gold with his athleticism, playmaking, and defensive hustle. Meanwhile, Bronny is getting accusations of nepotism after the USC product failed to make any meaningful impression during his lone year with the team.
If you put their careers side by side, it’s natural that the average Lakers fan would feel drawn towards Reaves’ story .However, it’s would be unfair to compare the career trajectory of the two players when Bronny hasn’t even played a single minute of NBA action yet.
While AR15 doesn’t want to compare careers, he did have something to say about Bronny finally making the NBA that will be a boon for the Purple and Gold.
Austin Reaves thinks Bronny James will help LeBron reach greater heights for the Los Angeles Lakers next season
During a recent interview, Reaves talked about various things regarding his career. The conversation naturally veered towards Bronny and his thoughts on the young guard.
While the 26-year-old didn’t say much about his game, he shed light on what he thinks James Jr. will do to impact his father’s game.
Per The Spun’s Chris Rosvoglou:
“For LeBron to just put himself in position to play with his son, it’s special,” Reaves said. “I know he will be motivated to play at his peak level.”
Austin Reaves managed to successfully navigate the question by putting the highlight on King James. It’s well known that LeBron wanted to play with his eldest for the longest time, and we could expect a resurgence in the future Hall of Famer’s performance in the coming season.
Meanwhile, Lakers fans can expect more of the same kind of play from Reaves in the coming campaign. Last season, he averaged 15.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 5.5 APG as the de facto starting PG for the Lakers.
