The Los Angeles Lakers made it happen on Thursday night. They have now helped make history by uniting, for the first time ever, a father and son duo on the same team. This is after LA used their 55th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft to select LeBron James’ son, Bronny, as their latest rookie recruit.
Apparently, Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, worked his magic behind the scenes to make sure that Bronny would still be available at 55.
Los Angeles Lakers News: Rich Paul Discouraged Other Teams From Drafting Bronny
It was former Golden State Warriors general manager turned ESPN insider Bob Myers who dropped a bombshell on Paul’s involvement in Bronny’s stock just before the younger James was selected by the Lakers.
According to Myers’ sources, Paul went out of his way to make sure that other teams would NOT draft Bronny before the Lakers had a chance to do so at the 55th spot:
“Rich Paul is calling teams, ‘Don’t take Bronny James,'” Myers said. “He’s telling them, ‘Do not take him. If you take him, he’s going to Australia.'”
"Rich Paul is calling teams, don't take Bronny James … if you take him, he's going to Australia." 😳

The assumption is that what Paul meant here is that Bronny would play professionally in Australia if he were selected by any team other than the Lakers. This was the warning the super agent issued to opposing teams that may have had an interest in scooping up LeBron’s son on Thursday night.
Unsurprisingly, the scheme worked to perfection, and I’m pretty sure King James is delighted by all this.
