The future is a bit hazy in the Los Angeles Lakers’ pursuit of a championship in the twilight years of LeBron James’ career. The team is still looking for a third star who can help the Purple and Gold finally make the jump into relevance against the strongest rosters of the Western Conference.
The team is also bearing witness to the beginnings of the NBA career of another member of the James household. Everyone knew Bronny James was eventually ending up with the Lakers, and nobody was surprised when the guard was selected 55th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Allegations of nepotism aside, Bronny has the physical tools to succeed in the league if he puts his best effort into it. The team also took the time to welcome him and fellow rookie Dalton Knecht into the team with a press conference that features their jersey numbers for the upcoming season.

The Lakers organized a quick press conference that introduced the team’s latest rookies. While Knecht was a very exciting prospect for the front office, it was also a special moment for Bronny whose NBA dreams have finally come true.

Fans immediately noticed that he won’t be wearing 6 to start his NBA journey, instead choosing to pay tribute to Juice WRLD. While the reasoning is youthful, James Jr. explained that his approach to the game for the coming season would be anything but juvenile.
“Just having that work ethic and coming in and getting your work in. Listening to your coaches and being coachable,” Bronny said, via NBA TV. “Stuff like that, he’s driven into my head my whole life.”
The former USC guard also acknowledged the “amplified amount of pressure” he’ll face playing alongside LeBron.
“I’ve already seen it [in the] media and [on the] internet talking about how I might not deserve an opportunity, but I’ve been dealing with stuff like this for my whole life,” Bronny said. “So it’s nothing different. It’s amplified for sure, but I’ll get through it.”
Lakers fans can only hope that Bronny performs up to standard and isn’t just in the league because of his future Hall of Fame father.
