The 2024-25 NBA season hasn’t started yet, but many Los Angeles Lakers fans are probably sick of hearing slander pointed toward Bronny James.
It was inevitable that James Jr. would be the target of criticism from all sectors of the league since he was selected 55th overall in the most recent draft. Since then, every move he’s made has been heavily scrutinized, and fans were quick to get on his back whenever he performed poorly in the Summer League.

However, it cannot be denied that Bronny showed glimpses of potential during his Summer League run. His solid defensive efforts and improved overall performance gave people food for thought on his future as an NBA player.
Now that he’s in the same league as his father, Bronny’s every move will always be covered. The coverage on his first social media activity since the Summer League is proof of the media attention he’s getting.
Bronny James posts story about Summer League highlights with the Los Angeles Lakers

Bronny James has been mostly radio silent after his Summer League stint ended, but he recently posted on his Instagram profile a highlight video of his exploits.
Bronny’s detractors wouldn’t change their minds after seeing the higlight as it doesn’t mean squat compared to actual NBA game time. However, it did a good job of emphasizing what the young man could do in the NBA.
The Spun’s Tzvi Machlin quickly pointed out that the odds are still stacked against James, though:
He showed flashes of NBA talent but those were few and often far between as he finished with 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game with a 35.0-percent field goal rate and 15.8-percent from three, all while averaging over 25 minutes per game.
Bronny has no small amount of pressure on him though. The amount of criticism that the Lakers got for drafting him was more than any other second-round pick in perhaps the history of the NBA.
James can only hope that the Lakers have a good plan for his development as an NBA player if he wants to prove his haters wrong.
