It’s been a day since the news of the Los Angeles Lakers’ sudden approach of Dan Hurley surfaced, and many still probably feel this isn’t real.
It’s understandable why a good number of NBA fans would still be processing the information. Everyone believed for the longest time that JJ Redick was the likeliest person to sit on the Lakers’ hot seat, with the man even making bold claims about the future.

Hurley’s potential hiring, while sudden, is a move that would make sense to many Lakers fans and their team’s high aspirations. They need someone who can quickly turn things around and turn the Purple and GGold into an instant contender.
The gigantic Woj Bomb had fans immediately glued to their phones, waiting for any updates with the hiring. The insider didn’t wait any longer, instantly giving fans a timeline on what will happen with the sudden pursuit over the next 24 hours.
Adrian Wojnarowski confirms the Los Angeles Lakers will meet with Dan Hurley to discuss potential partnership

Woj confirmed the news hours before the Finals opener between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks, which the C’s easily won 107-89. He reported that the two-time NCAA Men’s Basketball champion will meet with the organization’s leadership about a potential move.
“Dan Hurley, I’m told, is on his way to meet with the Lakers tomorrow (Friday). He’ll sit down with (general manager and vice president) Rob Pelinka, and owner Jeanie Buss and they’ll start to dig into what a Hurley-Laker partnership would look like,” Wojnarowski said.
It makes sense why the Lakers are frantically chasing Hurley. Take away the fact that he’s a two-time NCAA champion, he created a potent offensive system with the UConn Huskies that had their opponents dazed and confused.
Another thing that made him a viable candidate for the Lakers job is his attitude. The fact that he can make bold claims about his team after convincingly taking down tough NCAA opponents shows that he has what it takes to handle a locker room full of big egos.
The last (and probably most important) thing is that LeBron James likes him. It’s not every day that King James talks positively about a coach, so to declare Hurley a great coach is a stamp of approval from the biggest presence in the Los Angeles Lakers roster.

Nothing is set in stone with Dan Hurley’s potential Tinseltown move, but it will be a very interesting season for the Lakers and their fans if he does make the jump.
