Most Los Angeles Lakers fans were unhappy with the news of Dan Hurley rejecting their mammoth offer to be their head coach next season, and one can point to his wife as the big reason why.

Dan Hurley revealed on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz that his wife, Andrea, “got violently angry” with the Los Angeles Lakers’ attempt to woo him, which was all over the news last week.
“She was like crying in the beginning,” Hurley said. “I think initially, the first couple days of it, she got violently angry and emotional, not like hitting me and stuff. She got emotional like, ‘I can’t believe you’re bringing this. Our life is so great. It’s perfect. Our lives couldn’t be better and now you’re bringing this s**t.'”
“So, she was bad in the beginning but then she warmed up to it when we got out there and she met (Lakers GM) Rob (Pelinka) and she met Jeanie (Buss) and felt the weather. We drove around Manhattan Beach and just met the people mostly. And she saw the vision of it. She was into it. But then when we got back to Connecticut without having made a decision and we got back home and we both flipped back (to UConn),” he added.”

The two-time NCAA champion coach also said leaving a good situation with the UConn Huskies would’ve been difficult because of his emotional connection with the team and the community, especially since they plan to go for their third straight title next season.
What’s next for the Los Angeles Lakers?
With Dan Hurley out of the picture, the Los Angeles Lakers will now be looking at other potential head coaching candidates. According to reports, New Orleans associate head coach James Borrego and former NBA guard JJ Redick are at the top of their list.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that JJ Redick, who has a good relationship with LeBron James, will formally interview with the Los Angeles Lakers this weekend.
