The Los Angeles Lakers are far from the premier destination for free agents and head coaches that they used to be previous decades. The team that was once treated as kings of the NBA are now struggling to even find their footing in the league.
While the Purple and Gold always want to be competing for the NBA championship, the sheer number of great teams in the Western Conference means that they cannot be in the Finals every single year.
The disappointment of not making deep playoff runs usually meant coaches being fired for the team’s shortcomings. This is one of the probable reasons why Dan Hurley decided to not push through with the Purple and Gold.

Another point of contention among fans is the current Lakers core. No one will deny that LeBron James and Anthony Davis are outstanding basketball players, but their most recent playoff performances put questions in everyone’s heads on whether they have what it takes to still win in the NBA.
There are even a couple of fans who called LeBron out when it comes to his motivations in the league. This certain criticism had LeBron speaking up to defend himself.
LeBron James clapped back at fan who accused Los Angeles Lakers star of not wanting to win basketball games

The Spun’s Andrew Gould covered the issue involving James and one NBA fan.
A popular social media account that James follows made a bold claim that fans who believe the 39-year-old star doesn’t want to win any more don’t have any clue what the game is.
LeBron fired at these haters with a direct hit:
“Do they ever know what they’re talking about?!” James asked.
Anyone who’s seen James play will not claim the Akron native doesn’t want to win games. James averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 assists, and 8.3 assists this season, numbers that willed the Lakers into the first round against the Denver Nuggets.
While it may be likely that the account made the argument for content’s sake, it doesn’t deny the fact that anyone who thinks King James doesn’t want to win his fifth ring doesn’t properly watch the Los Angeles Lakers play.
