It’s no secret LeBron James has played more years than most guys in the NBA right now. But if Danny Green, his former teammate with the Los Angeles Lakers, is to be believed, it’s only a matter of time before he hangs up his jersey for good.
Now in his 21st season, James is still playing at a high level for Los Angeles. This can be seen in a recent 116-104 win over the Brooklyn Nets. In that game, the King wowed everyone when he shot 90 percent from beyond the arc, while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing five assists. By the end of the night, James tallied 40 points in 37 minutes.
Over the course of 65 games this season, the Lakers’ All-Star forward is averaging 25.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.2 steals in 35.2 minutes per contest. He’s also shooting 53 percent from the field, 41 percent from deep, and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Even with his career not yet done, James has a resume that can’t be broken anytime soon. This list of achievements including becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, winning four rings, and being named to 20 All-Star Games, among others.
Danny Green Expects Los Angeles Lakers Star LeBron James to Stay 1 More Year Before Retiring
After all of his accomplishments in the league, it’s only a matter of time before James retires. According to Green, he expects the King to play one more year before leaving the NBA. When asked what will go first – James’ career or the Golden State Warriors Big 3, Green said the former in a video posted by ESPN:
“I think they expire at the same time. I think at most, another year. A lot of antics, like you said, turmoil. A lot of up and down with Klay. They’re not sure what they’re going to get if they can bring him back. So I think LeBron plays one more year, if not sooner. Both of these groups ending at the same time,” Green said.
At this point in time, the Warriors core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green have regressed with the latter two stars underperforming this season. With time catching up on both James and Golden State’s stars, they’re bound to leave the league soon.
Whether James exceeds more than one year or not remains to be seen. In any case, fans will know when Bronny James enters the NBA, as this is the signal that the King will soon play his final year in the league.
