While LeBron James is still going strong heading into his 22nd season, the fact remains that the Los Angeles Lakers star is in the twilight of his career.
The four-time NBA champion and league MVP recently appeared in The Shop live from Paris, as he dropped a candid take on how he wants to be remembered. For the King, he wants to be known not only for his achievements in basketball but also for his work in the community.
“From time to time, I do think about how do I want to be remembered, and I hope that it’s not just the game of basketball,” James said. “You know, I feel like if it’s just the game of basketball, that people, you know, talk about me in the sense of I think I’ve kind of failed my mission. So, you know, the things that I do in my community, the way myself and Savannah raised our kids, you know, my relationship with my single parent mother, you know, my friendship with my guys, being able to help people from my hometown.”
“If those conversations don’t hit the barbershop, if they don’t hit forums or whatever the case may be, then I feel like my mission wasn’t completed,” he added.
LeBron James gears up for another campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers
LeBron James is still one of the Los Angeles Lakers’ top stars, averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 54 percent from the field and a career-high 41 percent from three-point range in 2023-24.
The Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs last season. However, they did manage to win the inaugural NBA Cup earlier in the campaign.
The 39-year-old forward will be teammates with his eldest son, Bronny, drafted 55th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in this summer’s NBA Draft.
