It’s been seven years since LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers, but even he can admit that being the face of the league can take its toll.
His most recent rant about the struggles of being the top player in the association induced a myriad of reactions from fans in and around the league. While his points were fair from a neutral’s perspective, it’s also clear that he’s not going to stop speaking his truth despite rubbing people the wrong way.

While his comments divide the league, his on-court feats continue to amaze Lakers fans who hope to see the Purple and Gold hoist their eighteenth banner at the Crypto.com Arena.
After another solid game against the Purple and Gold’s crosstown rivals, he talked about the thing that drives him to perform at this point of his career.
LeBron James talks about what drives him to perform for the Los Angeles Lakers, NBA

James had a terrific game during the team’s phenomenal win over the Clippers. While Luka Doncic was the best player for the Lakers, James held his own. He finished the 102-106 win with 28 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Scott Van Pelt talked to him about his performance and his most recent comments, asking him about what drives him to perform at such a high level.
ESPN posted the interview on social media,, and he had a detailed answer on what drives him to succeed.
“What matters to me when it comes to my generation and the younger generation that’s in our league now is that we’re playing for the love of the game,” James said. “We’re not out here cheating the game, we’re putting the grind in. We’re putting the time in.”
He talked about how important it was to honor the generations before them and leaving the game in a better spot than when they found it, even naming his contemporaries such as Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant in the process:
“We’re just trying to carry on tradition… we love what we do. It’s a responsibility for all of us to continue to press the game, continue to push the game in a positive factor for all our fans all over America and all over the world because it’s the most beautiful game in the world.”
It’s clear with his message that King James will continue to put his best foot forward as he plays out the rest of his career. The Lakers faithful hope that LeBron will finish his career with another banner.
