Many fans clowned on the Los Angeles Lakers when they decided to draft Bronny James 55th overall in the 2024 Draft. Many called the move as a move pandering to LeBron James as his collegiate stint didn’t show any signs of him becoming a legitimate NBA star.
While his NBA numbers are nothing to write home about, his G League numbers have been phenomenal to the point that JJ Redick publicly expressed his belief in James Jr. to thrive in the league.

His breakout moment came recently when he had a double-digit outburst against the Philadelphia 76ers. While they aren’t the toughest team they can face at this point of the season, his showing has been enough to convince a Lakers teammate of his on-court abilities.
Markieff Morris thinks Bronny James can etch a career with the Los Angeles Lakers, NBA

Markieff Morris is one of the most veteran players in the roster, with only King James having a longer career than him. He’s seen a lot of players come and go in the association, so it means something when he says Bronny has the potential to shine for the Purple and Gold.
Per Lakers Nation’s Corey Hansford:
“He’s a hard worker,” Morris said of Bronny. “We play stay-ready a lot and he shows that he’s working on his game. He’s getting better day by day. Proud of him just to go out there and make a name for himself. I think he’s a great player and he’s got a great future.”
His efforts definitely bore fruit during the Lakers’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks. While the team did suffer a 118-89 loss to the visiting Bucks without LeBron and Luka Doncic on the roster, it gave Bronny the perfect platform to show critics what he’s made of.
The young guard got plenty of minutes off the bench for Redick and made the most of the opportunity. He carefully chose his shots, ending the night with 17 points on an impressive 7-for-10 shooting. He also showcased his two-way potential with three boards, five assists, and one block.

While the road is still long for Bronny to establish himself in the NBA, he has a legitimate shot at making a career in the league if he keeps his head down.
