Even before he became part of the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James has always been a magnet for criticism and controversy. This prompted Golden State Warriors All-Star forward Draymond Green to defend the rookie, particularly from a nasty Summer League accusation.
The Lakers’ Summer League was marked by chaos and tensions as the son of Lakers star LeBron James, made his debut. The attention and hype surrounding Bronny caused issues within the locker room, with some teammates feeling frustrated and like they couldn’t showcase their talents.

Bronny, who was drafted 55th overall by the Lakers, struggled on the court, averaging just 4.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting a dismal 22.6% from the field. His poor performance and the perception of preferential treatment rubbed some of his teammates the wrong way, with one player stating that “he was treated as someone apart, not like all of us, and that is very annoying.”
The Lakers’ Summer League coach, Dale Johnson, acknowledged the tensions, stating that “that kind of tension didn’t help the group of players to build chemistry.” Bronny himself admitted to feeling the “amplified amount of pressure” and even suggested a potential G League assignment to develop further.
The chaos and drama surrounding Bronny’s debut underscored the challenges the Lakers face in balancing the attention and expectations that come with having a player with such a famous familial connection on their roster.
Draymond Green Drops Take At Ugly Los Angeles Lakers Accusation About Bronny James

Throughout the past few weeks, a lot of opinions were given by different personalities. Among them was from Green to defend the younger James, as seen in a screenshot taken from his social media account.

Before he entered the league, James declared that the final run of his career will be spent playing with Bronny. Moreover, the King stated that his eldest son is better than most NBA players, prompting a wave of backlash felt by the Lakers rookie from that point on.

Even with all the hate being thrown at James, nothing will be proven until he steps on the court and plays a couple of games for Los Angeles. Until then, expect Green and other personalities to defend him from the accusations from time to time.
