The Los Angeles Lakers will soon field the first father-son duo in NBA history when superstar LeBron James takes the court with Bronny sometime next season. In turn, All-Star Anthony Davis has come forth to share his thoughts about the pair playing for the Purple and Gold.
James is set to play with Bronny later this year when the league returns for the new season. This will mark the first time in NBA history that a father and son have played on the same team.

The elder James described it as a dream come true and said his whole family is overjoyed to see this opportunity become a reality. The Lakers drafted Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and signed him to a four-year deal on July 3. On the same day, the Lakers also re-signed LeBron to a two-year, $104 million contract.
Along with fielding the father and son duo, the Lakers will also have JJ Redick coach the team for next season. The former NBA sharpshooter has no coaching experience prior to his current gig with the Lakers. Even if that’s the case, he is projected to bring something new to the table, such as making Davis the main hub on offense.
Anthony Davis Shares His Thoughts on LeBron James Playing With Bronny For the Los Angeles Lakers

Just recently, Davis talked a bout the upcoming season for Los Angeles. Among the thoughts he shared was about playing with LeBron and Bronny, as seen in an article written by Ben Golliver for The Washington Post.
“It’s never happened in basketball,” Davis said of the James duo. “It’s a cool experience to happen on our team and see [Bronny] grow. It’s going to be great. He’s going to get better and grow, especially in a system where JJ likes to develop guys.”
Throughout his career, LeBron established himself as one of the best NBA players by winning four MVP awards and four NBA championships. Last season, he averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds for the Lakers. Bronny, who just finished his freshman season at USC, had a limited role, putting up 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

The transition to the NBA may be challenging for the 19-year-old, but playing alongside his future Hall of Fame father should provide a valuable support system. Furthermore, having Davis on the team will surely help a lot for the league’s first father and son duo.
