It was an emotional evening for the James family after the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James as the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The family hosted a viewing party with some of their closest relatives and friends as they shared this incredible moment together.

Naturally, Bronny himself was moved to tears after his dream to play in the NBA finally came to fruition.

The exact moment Bronny’s name was called was, of course, captured on video. In it, the 19-year-old is sitting in the middle of the room surrounded by family and friends. The young man could not hold back his emotions when he was announced as the 55th overall pick:

In case you missed it, it was actually his mother, Savannah James, who handed Bronny his Lakers hat. She too was in tears as she struggled to keep her emotions in check during this momentous occasion.

Bronny’s younger brother, Bryce James, was in attendance as well. He was sitting at the back of the room so he was able to capture a great angle of the scene:

What an unforgettable moment for the James household and of course, for Bronny himself. This is but a first step toward his dream of becoming an NBA player. Now that it’s official, he will need to put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to make sure that he is able to make some sort of impact for the Lakers this coming season.

The good news for him is that Dad will be there to help him every step of the way.
