More than a few folks out there believe that the Los Angeles Lakers would not have drafted Bronny James had it not been for his father, LeBron James. The hard truth is that this notion probably isn’t wrong.
However, now that he’s officially in the NBA, the 19-year-old will be determined to prove that he’s more than just LeBron’s son. One thing Bronny has going for him with regard to this objective is the fact that the entire organization is standing behind him.
Los Angeles Lakers News: JJ Redick Gives Bronny James His Flowers

During Wednesday’s introductory press conference, new head coach JJ Redick took the opportunity to address Bronny’s naysayers. The incoming rookie shot-caller made it abundantly clear that despite his name and his reputation, Bronny has worked extremely hard to deserve to be where he is today:
“Rob (Pelinka) and I didn’t give Bronny anything,” Redick said. “… Bronny has earned this through hard work. For us prioritizing player development, we view Bronny as Case Study 1 because his base level of feel, athleticism, point-of-attack defender, shooting passing — there’s a lot to like about his game. As we sort of build out our player development program wholistically, he’s gonna have a great opportunity to become an excellent NBA player.”

Redick also had nothing but good things to say about Bronny’s game, which leads you to believe that this young man has a real chance to make an impact in his rookie year. He won’t be a star, but it appears that Redick will be giving Bronny every chance to fight for his place in the Lakers’ rotation for the upcoming season.
