Los Angeles Lakers news: Skip Bayless is a self-professed Bronny James fan. The same cannot be said, however, about the NBA analyst’s affinity to Bronny’s father, LeBron James — or rather, the lack thereof.
Bayless has been singing Bronny’s praises for quite some time now, and his recent round of exaltation included a veiled shot at LeBron. Of course.
Los Angeles Lakers News: Bronny More Clutch Than LeBron, Claims Skip Bayless

In a recent episode of his show, Bayless explained in detail why he’s in awe of Bronny — both the player and the man. In fact, Skip gave credit to LeBron and his wife Savannah James for the way they brought Bronny up:
“I think Bronny is built even tougher than his father is because Bronny’s been through a lot in his life,” Bayless said. “In the harshest spotlight any kid could ever be thrust into as LeBron James Jr.
“… Kid’s got a backbone. Kid’s got guts. Kid’s got principle and character. His parents did a good job raising him.”
It’s almost as if Bayless was ready to give LeBron his flowers.

That was until the 72-year-old came out of nowhere to deliver a rather questionable take on LeBron’s ability to step up in the clutch:
“I’ve always gotten a feeling that Bronny had a bigger clutch gene than his father does,” claimed Skip.

Now that’s the Skip Bayless we know.
He even cited Bronny’s clutch performance in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Game as proof of the 19-year-old’s clutch gene. It goes without saying, though, that this single game absolutely pales in comparison to LeBron’s body of work throughout his career.
